"Across the Universe"

"All We Need is Love..."

Last time when I decided to watch a televison, I came across with the "Oprah" show...Indeed, the show is really a helpful one..full of information on so many different aspects of life...and Oprah is really something!..Oh, come on! admit it.....everybody loves Oprah, right?..well, if not..atleast for the most...she's actually a blessing...whatever... ;)

I am not an avid fan of Oprah...yet, when i tend to watch some of the episodes from her show...I just can say that it is really something worthwhile to put your time into it...I can still remember the episode to where "Al Gore" discussed some things concerning the so-called "Global Warming"...that had just given me shivers and chills...The facts and information presented were quite enough for the people to be aware of what the hell's really going on with our atmosphere due to all the stupid things that we do...and if we still dont do anything to give some remedy into it...well, we better look for another place (earth) to live in... ;)

But what I am going to share to you this time is a movie that has been promoted in the show. It really caught my interests since the movie is quite realistic yet enveloped with some special effects that are just enough to arouse some creativity and realization. And to think, the movie is a musical of some sort!...Yes, and not just some petty or make-believe musical movie...but a movie that runs through all of the songs..oh, not all...hmm...34 songs I think...34 songs from the famous band - "The Beatles"!

The movie was directed by Julie Taymor..the famous theatrical director of some marvelous works including the "The Lion King".

Julie's film Across the Universe follows the lives of a group of young people living during the turbulent 1960s…told through the lyrics of 34 Beatles songs. Each song underpins the characters' emotional journeys and illustrates the political upheaval of that era. Just like the Beatles did in their music, the movie addresses topics ranging from young love to anti-war protest to civil rights to psychedelic drugs.

While the stories of Jude, Lucy, Sadie and JoJo are told in musical interludes, Julie packs those moments with dazzling special effects, animation and puppetry. The combination of songs and visuals—and famous cameos from musicians and actors like Salma Hayek and Bono—add up to a stroke of genius unlike anything you've ever seen.

After nearly everything in the film was complete, Julie faced her ultimate test…screening Across the Universe for ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney.

"It was the most terrifying moment," she says. "I just felt that ultimately, that was it. I got to do the movie and sit with him and have him see it. And he sat next to me and when 'All My Loving' started, he sang under his breath. That was it!"

What did he think? "At the end I did the classic thing. I said, 'Was there anything you didn't like?' He said, 'What's not to like?' And it was just those words."

Well, I am not expecting that everybody would like this film...but really..this is a must-see movie...more worthy to watch than those all-time cruel or rude and full of fantasy movies...maybe...for a change that is...haha!...Actually...this movie was released last year (2007)...basta ah...bay-e lng ko bala... : ))
